D2 steel can be used to manufacture cold work die steels with large cross-sections, complex shapes, high impact resistance, and high wear resistance, such as silicon steel sheet die, cold cutting scissors, trimming die, etc.
D2 mold steel is highly wear-resistant, slightly deformed cold-worked mold steel, air-hardened tool steel, with a carbon content of up to 1.5%, a high chromium content of 11.5%, and a hardness of up to 60HRC after heat treatment.D2 die steel is highly wear-resistant, slightly deformed cold work die steel, air-hardened tool steel, with a carbon content of up to 1.5%, a chromium content of up to 11.5%, and a hardness of up to 60HRC after heat treatment.
D2 characteristic with high wear resistance, vacuum heat treatment to HRC60°-62°, excellent processing performance.After the work piece is rough-processed, heat it to 600~650℃, keep it for 2h, cool it to 500℃ with the furnace, and air-cool it out.Hardness: Annealing, ≤255HB, indentation diameter ≥3.8mm; quenching, ≥59HRC.
After quenching, it should be tempered in time to prevent cracking and surface decarburization. The gauges and high-precision molds should be cryogenically treated (-70℃), and high temperature tempering should be used to reduce work piece deformation. The high temperature tempering temperature is 500~560℃. , The hardness is greater than 58HRC .
It is common to use in metal stamping dies, drawing dies, stainless steel sheet blanking dies, high-hardness blanking dies, shear cutter dies, thread rolling dies, hardware parts production, machinery manufacturing, etc.
Domestic Cr12Mo1V1 steel, American D2 steel, Japanese SKD11 steel, although the chemical composition of the three is the same, but the performance is very different. After heat treatment, the color of domestic steel is slightly orange-red, and the deformation is generally large, and it is easy to accidentally cause fatigue fracture in actual use; D2 steel has a cool white color, hardness is higher than SKD11 steel, and toughness is not as good as SKD11 steel. High stress is prone to small gaps; SKD11 steel is bright in color and has the best overall performance.

D2 Mainly Performance

Heat treatment specification
Heat treatment specification: quenching, preheating at 820±15℃, heating at 1000±6℃ (salt bath) or 1010±6℃ (furnace control atmosphere), holding time for 10-20min, air cooling, tempering at 200±6℃.Stress relief annealing: After rough machining of the work piece, heat it to 600~650℃, keep it for 2 hours, cool it down to 500℃ with the furnace, and then air-cool it out.
Quenching: The work piece is slowly warmed up to 600°C, holding for 20 minutes for the first preheating, after the uniform temperature is raised to 850°C, holding for 30 minutes for the second preheating, and finally heated to 1020~1040°C, holding for 25~40min, Air-cooled out of the oven.
Tempering: After quenching, it should be tempered immediately and tempered at least twice, and the holding time should not be less than 2h each.

Application examples
1) It is used for deep drawing die of refrigerator compressor back cover, quenching hardness 56~58HRC.
2) In order to improve the service life of D2 cold work die flat steel rolling material, the method of adding rare earth is adopted, the wear resistance and impact toughness of the steel are greatly improved, so as to achieve the purpose of improving the service life of the round die flat steel rolling material .
3) Because the content of V and Mo in D2 steel is higher than that of Cr12MoV steel, it has better comprehensive performance, and traditional Cr12MoV steel will gradually be replaced.
4) The rolling wheel and off-stage adjusting plate cold punching die made of D2 steel can increase the service life by 5 to 6 times compared with Cr12MoV steel.
